Laptop DC Power Jack Repair

Half way to the weekend already had a job pass through the I thought might make an interesting blog as alot of people have been in this situation! Basically a customer has had issues with their laptop charging and having to hold the charger in certain positions to get it to charge. I've never encountered this problem and it not be the power jack. The DC power jack is where your laptop adapter plugs into and depending on the make and model of your laptop will depend on how it fits in.

Some have a pin in the adapter wire others in the jack itself. Had the customers continued to use it in this way the jack would have eventually stopped working all together. This is a costly job as the laptop needs to be completely dismantled and repaired internally causeing a full laptop repair procedure. Luckily this customer's jack wasn't soldered to the motherboard and simply had come away from its clip causing it to move when the adapter was pushed in. I replaced the clip and the DC power jack was function as it should be!
